What does it mean? What do we believe?

Water Baptism

In the Great Commission, Jesus established Christian baptism when He called His disciples to make disciples of all nations and to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20).

Declaring Christ

In the Early Church, baptisms were conducted in public areas and were seen as a moment of dedication for followers of Jesus Christ.

Today, baptisms serve the same purpose as they are a public declaration of faith in Christ. Baptism is the an outward sign of an inward conversion experience - a celebration of new life.

  • Why should I consider being baptized?

It’s one way to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. Jesus, Himself, was baptized. Though He was without sin, in humble obedience, He chose to identify with us in baptism and asks us to do the same.

One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized Him in the Jordan River. As Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.” Mark 1:9-11

  • Why should I be baptized?

Anyone who has made the decision to follow Jesus should be baptized. This doesn’t have to happen the same day you say “yes” to Jesus, but we will offer a baptism service at least once a year!

Join us Sunday, July 16 for our baptism service followed by a picnic lunch! If you’re considering getting baptized, let us know here!

  • What’s the point of baptism?

Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Together with Him, we let go of our old life and welcome in the new!

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:12-14
