Our Vision & Story

Our vision is to make Jesus visible in Anoka. We are a non-traditional church with a heart is to show compassion to those in need.

In the Summer of 2021, Compassion Church started meeting as a small group of believers for monthly worship gatherings at Heart of the City Music Factory in Anoka, Minnesota (a central location to many surrounding organizations that seek to end homelessness) and to practice weekly rhythms of discipleship as a Compassion group in our homes.

In the Fall of 2024, we opened a coffeehouse to not only serve as a space to gather for worship, but for a way we can practically care for those in need by providing employment, skills-training, and resources for people affected by homelessness.

We see Jesus moving throughout our story in big and small ways and deeply desire that He would receive all the glory!

  • What happens when I first arrive?

Once you arrive, grab a cup of coffee and make yourself at home! There are restrooms in the back corner along with a kids area.

  • How should I dress?

Come as you are! Whether you’re casual or dressy, or whatever your style, we want to meet the real YOU!

  • Do you offer any refreshments?

We do! Make yourself at home. We have coffee available all morning long during both worship gatherings, and offer treats in between at 10am.

  • What about my kids?

We value family worship on Sunday mornings, so kids join us for the entire worship gathering. We have different coloring books and activity sheets that the kids can work on throughout the morning and are intentional about incorporating interactive elements for the kids as well. In the back corner of the coffeehouse, there’s also a kids play area that kids can play in.

  • Humanity

Humans were originally created in the image and likeness of God: they fell through disobedience, incurring both physical and spiritual death. All people are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. The portion of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment; and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss.

    Scripture Reference:

    Titus 3:4-7

  • Sanctification

It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service. This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion.

    Scripture References:

  • The Church

The Church consists of all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, commissioned by Him to go into the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, edification through the Word, prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
